Blues are in action again today after landing three points on the road for the first time since Blackburn away this week, they will be looking for back to back victories away from home for the first time this season. It comes amid a backdrop of, what I am taking as, the green shoots of progress.

Blues may have suffered their first League defeat at home last weekend but you felt Blues would have come away with three points with a competent referee and without Robinson playing. The mystery around Neumann’s absence doesn’t really seem to have been resolved as he came on and showed exactly why he should have been playing. Photos of Klarer and Neumann shoulder to shoulder after the game were no doubt used to dampen down the suggestions of a rift between the two but it seems the most likely explanation of why we kept opting for a weaker defence.
I think that Davies is also coming to find his strongest squad, yes Kyogo hasn’t performed yet (In fact he’s fallen to about fourth choice surely following the success of Dykes and with Dimmy being utilised as a striker at times) and Robinson has been a disciplinary disaster but there is a core of starters there that look like they’re giving it their all. I suspect therefore we will see quite a similar line up to Tuesday, the back four will be without Bright but I don’t see that as a huge blow. I think we will also see the reintroduction of Gray to the starting line up.
Blues are currently 4 points adrift of Bristol so will be hopeful to close the gap a bit and keep up the race up the table. Bristol are coming out of their own rocky spell however so it won’t be easy, especially given Blues rocky start on the road. That said I still think we’ll do well and my prediction is 2-1 Blues!
