BRUM IS BLUE!

Football returns following the International Break and Blues will face Hull at St Andrews @ Knighthead Park. There was a lot of noise before the break about Blues poor form, particularly their away performances, so the draw with Wrexham before the break felt like it ended this poor run.

Blues have just one win in their last five fixtures but certainly looked better against Wrexham than we’ve seen of late offering hope they’ve ended the rot, combine that with some time off and it leaves me feeling positive for today at the least.

Blues do still have a few lingering injury issues with six players potentially out today due to injury including Demarai Gray. Injuries seem to really be something that Blues have had to contend with since the start of the season, I have complained that I don’t believe Davies knows his best 11 but in his defence when has he had an opportunity to really find it out?

I think we’ll see a similar line up to the one that faced Wrexham two weeks ago but as Gray is potentially out and there isn’t a fit replacement at the moment we will likely see a tweak in formation. Will he start Dykes again as Ducksch is still out as well and Dykes had a great international break scoring two goals, again though late goals potentially pigeonholing him into the Super Sub role. I’m not convinced he’s a full 90 minute player and so I’d rather him come on as a sub given the impact he has when he does this.

Hull in their last five have managed one fewer defeat and one more victory but with St Andrews being a fortress currently it does give Blues the edge. Hull are currently on the same points as Blues but sit one place above us. Hull however will potentially look at it and think, well in the last five meetings Hull have beaten Blues twice and only lost one game. Depressingly if we drill it down to just home league games you have to go as far back as 2018 for the last time we beat them at St Andrews, fortunately we faced them in the FA Cup in January last year and beat them 2-1.

I think it will be a tough game today but my prediction is 2-0 Blues!
