Blues play their final pre-season friendly today as they face Nottingham Forest in the Trevor Francis memorial match. It will also see the club unveil a statue in honour of the first Million Pound Player, which has been placed in front of the Kop by the looks of images on social media.

With just under a week until the real deal kicks off, Forest is a challenge that will up the fitness and set the lads up ready for Friday’s game against Ipswich. It’s a last chance for Davies to experiment with the squad, to include some of the youth with some of the senior squad and see if there’s any unrealised potential there.
I imagine therefore the line up today will contain most of the senior players, both that will start and that will make the squad, and we’ll no doubt also see a match of two halves. It will be an insight for us as fans as to what we can expect for next season, at least in terms of line up (Although a win would be nice to suggest that we’ll maintain our unbeaten home record). That said I’m sure we don’t want them burnt out, but we do want them up to speed.
Forest are yet to win a game during their Pre-Season fixtures but they’ve also held a few teams to goalless draws against Chesterfield, Monaco and Estoril Praia. Fulham have beaten them 3-1 as well so it does give us a bit of hope that we can seal the victory for this fixture, despite Forest Premier League status. As always I’ll say it doesn’t really matter as it’s a friendly but as we’re getting close to the main event we’d ideally want to have plenty of positives to take from this.
My prediction today is 2-1 Blues and hopefully it’s a buzzing atmosphere leaving us all excited to take on the Championship. After watching the documentary yesterday I can’t wait for the season ahead! Up the Blues, Keep Right On, Birmingham on the Rise!
