Following the postponement and subsequent venue change of the Solihull Moors, Arthur Cup Friendly Blues are in action twice today and will no doubt be hoping the rain doesn’t ruin things. Both games will take place at 3pm as Blues take on both Burton Albion and Crewe Alexandra today.
The double match day friendlies tend to be split between a more senior team and one mixed with youth. I’d suggested in the Moors pre match write up that I thought we’d see a sprinkling of youth as it gives management the opportunity to look at the standard they younger players are at, Zaid Betteka is an example of how Davies and co will be looking at the youth players and what, if any, part they have to play in next season.
Burton will likely be the fixture which has the more senior line up as this is the match that has been selected to stream on Blues+ and so Crew Alexandra will potentially have a few more academy players on there. You can follow this one via the Blues socials.
I think the postponement of the Moors game was a bit of a blow in terms of keeping the flow as Blues build up for next season. It gives a slightly congested run of fixtures as we go into the real thing but I can’t imagine that will be a huge issue.
I’ll be keeping an eye on both games and looking to see if there’s anything exciting from the new guys as well as any other youth players that catch my eye. I think Blues should come away victorious from both fixtures.
