Blues secured their second signing of the summer transfer window (Fourth signing overall ahead of the 2025/26 campaign) yesterday as they announced the signing of Tommy Doyle on a season long loan.

Tommy Doyle is 23 years old and currently plays for Wolves, although he has fallen out of favour with manager Vitor Pereira due to not suiting the style he wants to play. He will however fit quite nicely into what Davies is trying to achieve.
Doyle began his career at Manchester City coming through the youth ranks before making one senior appearance in a League Cup fixture. He was loaned out a few times, initially to Hamburger SV making 6 appearances and scoring one goal, Cardiff City making 19 appearances and scoring twice, Sheffield United where he scored three times in 33 appearances before he made a loan move to Wolves which was later converted to a permanent deal.
He also has played for England at youth level winning the 2023 Euros with the U21’s. He’s yet to make his senior debut for the national team but he has caught the eye so it’s surely only a matter of time for him.
The deal gives Blues the option to buy at the end of the loan spell so we’ll see how it goes this season but it’s worth keeping in mind that Wolves only brought him in 2024 for a fee of around £4m, his current valuation is around £8m so Blues would have to fork out if they decide to convert the deal to a permanent move. As I say the player does have admiring fans up and down the country (I’ve had a few messages since the announcement saying how good a player he is) so I’d be surprised if we didn’t go in for him at the end of the season.
On joining Blues Tommy also said all the right things while talking to Blues+
“I’m really excited. It’s a big club with big ambition, so I’m looking forward to getting involved and getting down to work.
“I’m a football fan first and foremost and obviously I’m aware of what the club did last season, but the most important thing now is building on that and improving.
“The way the club is going about its business is really impressive and it shows that the club is only going one way. That’s really exciting for us as players, for staff members and, most importantly, for the fans.
“There’s a clear path on what’s happening and what’s going to happen, so in the meantime you’ve got to trust the process, live in the moment and enjoy it, and I’m looking forward to doing that.
“I knew about it (the move) quite early on, which again was nice because it showed the intent of the football club that they wanted me, so that always feels good. You always take that into consideration when making a decision, but the ambition of this football club and the way it’s going, it’s difficult to turn down.”
