BRUM IS BLUE!

With the summer setting in nicely you’d think there’d be little to no football, but with the Club World Cup, Euro U21s and Euro U19s there’s still a surprising amount out there. I’ve only watched the Man City game of the CWC so far as I’m not all too fussed about it, but with Stansfield in the Euro U21 Squad and Blues prospect James Beadle as the number 1 I thought it would be worth watching their games.

England have progressed to the Quarter Finals but I must admit the last two fixtures haven’t really set the world alight; although I can’t be too judgemental as I missed their 0-0 with Slovenia. That said even the 3-1 victory in the opening fixture against Czechia I had a big concern and it’s one that was still resonating as the whistle blew at the end of the holders defeat to Germany. I don’t know if I’m distracted by Allsop tinted glasses but I’m not convinced I’d rather Beadle than Allsop in the middle of our net.

Playing for the U21s shows that there is something there, but he’s also young and doesn’t seem to be all that imposing in the goal, combine that with the way I feel he’s made a couple of mistakes and it does raise a slight question in my mind. If he was a player we’re going to nurture and develop, great, I’m all down for that, but it’s reported that any deal (Which is expected to be “announced next week” for the last few weeks) is likely to be a loan deal.

I’m not one to slate players in general, I think at times a players abilituy can’t be helped and frustrations can lead to a lack of interest but even then I’ll try hard not to be too critical. I think the player that got my harshest criticism last season was Peacock-Farrel, if I’m being honest watching Beadle in the England Squad I’d question how much above PF he really is he? What value do Blues get brining in a keeper on loan that isn’t as good as the player already there, in this instance Allsop.

Blues are no doubt looking for competition for the number 1 spot but I’m not convinced a loan player is the way to do that, of course I don’t know any details of any perspective deals so it could just be that there is no minimum amount of games and an option to buy (Or even an option to send back). I don’t know but ultimately I’m less convinced on this one after seeing the player in action.
