Blues are back in action today as we face Shrewsbury at St Andrews, looking to make amends for one of just three league defeats we’ve faced this season. Shrewsbury on the other hand are rock bottom of League One and have just lost their manager going into this one. It’s surely the recipe for a solid Blues victory?

Shrewsbury will be looking to get that new manager bounce with Michael Appleton taking charge of their visit to us. He will be looking to achieve what no other club in the division has done and that is the double over us. Blues on the other hand should be rested after having not played last weekend due to several players being on international duty.
Shrewsbury haven’t won any of their last five games, suffering four defeats and notching up one draw. They’re rooted right at the bottom of the table but there is still the possibility the can get out of the drop as they’re only 8 points behind Burton, so in theory they still have something to fight for and turn their season around. This will no doubt make them a formidable opponent as their backs are against the wall. That said, I can’t personally see anything other than a Blues victory.
Blues will be looking to notch up another win, another step closer to that title and to make amends for the draw after our last game. Blues will be hoping for no lapses in concentration to lead to any own goals and personally I think we could see three or dare I say it, four, goals in this one. Blues recorded a 4-0 victory over Shrewsbury in the Vertu Trophy and they’ve yet to face us at St Andrews.
Reports suggest Jay Stansfield should be fit for this one but that Paik may be absent following his injury picked up on international duty. Ethan Laird could return for this one but all the suggestions I’ve seen have said it may be a game too soon for him.
My prediction today is 3-0 Blues!
