Paik’s Response

Blues put themselves 14 points clear at the top of the table last night as Dowell stepped up to the spot for the second time in a week while Paik reacted to Davies (Constructive) criticism of him not having found the net yet this season.

It was Blues 48th fixture of the campaign so far, as far as I can see this is the most of any English team in the pyramid with Liverpool coming second at 46 fixtures. A trip to Wembley and 11 games remain in the campaign and I’m sure one or two players will be eyeing up that international break and hoping to see the second Stevenage game postponed again.

Last night was a bit of a niggly game, Stevenage did what they did in the quarter final of the Vertu Trophy and brought it to Blues. There were a couple of spells in which they looked decent and I imagine Stevenage will be feeling they can do we second time around at their ground.

Prior to the game Davies urged the South Korean international to score, having not managed to find the net all season, and it was taken on board by Paik who looked to be searching throughout the game before being rewarded early in the second half. It was a game which Blues struggled in the final third, a complaint I feel I’ve been making after most games.

Blues had ten shots throughout the game with just 2 on target, Stevenage actually had one more shot than us but double the amount on target. Blues dominated possession again, it’s just frustrating that we can’t seem to convert this into goals. I feel Blues are creating more chances as we’re edging into the final 11 games of the season but still can’t quite convert them.

With 11 games left to go and as Blues extent their lead at the top to 14 points the end is certainly in sight.
