We Go Again!

Blues secured all three points at the weekend thanks to a penalty from Dowell but it wasn’t a great game. We’re lumbering along now and just getting the points on the board whilst teams look to sit back and try to minimize the damage. We’re at it again tonight as we face Stevenage under the lights.

Blues victory over Lincoln came as Wycombe dropped two points meaning Blues were able to build an 11 point cushion on second place, Wrexham picked up all three points though to bring them level with Wycombe as they look to secure automatic promotion. Wrexham have a nice run of fixtures to work towards this goal but can they catch Blues? I’ve said before it would take a monumental slip from Blues for this to happen and all we can do is beat who is in front of us.

Tonight that is Stevenage who sit 12th (As Lincoln did when we played them at the weekend) in the table. It is a game Blues should be able to come away with all three points and there is one eye on the title, it’s getting closer now so I’m hoping we don’t see any further slip ups.

Despite beating Stevenage last month in the cup, this is the first League meeting between the pair. Blues managed a narrow 0-1 victory in February over Stevenage as we progressed to the semi-final of the Vertu Trophy. A late Stansfield goal was the difference then and while Blues were certainly the better team Stevenage gave it a solid go.

Stevenage have won just twice since this defeat and their recent form going into this game has been a bit patchy. When Blues faced them last they had seemed to be building some momentum in the league but the wind seems to have been taken from their sails and they come into the match tonight on the back of a 1-1 draw at the weekend against Mansfield Town.

Blues will have pretty much the same squad as they did for the match against Lincoln at the weekend, I can see Anderson potentially being started tonight but then my line up predictions have been fairly off the mark recently. With Allsop back there doesn’t feel like much concern that there’ll be anything but a clean sheet, Blues will just need to take their chances up top. Lincoln was quite a frustrating game I felt and I feel this has been a theme throughout the season, Stevenage did give it a go at their ground though and hopefully will try again tonight as this does favour Blues I feel.

My prediction tonight is 2-0 Blues. Head over to our socials for our 60 Second Stats which I’ll release before kick off!
