Blues are back in action today as we face Lincoln today at St Andrews @ Knighthead Park, looking for a response to that defeat against Bolton in the week. Blues are still suffering injuries so other players will need to step up a bit more as we look to bounce back.

In the week there was a fair bit of criticism as the team looked a bit lost, tired and really quite up against it. I said before Bolton that I thought Blues would face a tough time of it but I didn’t expect to come away with no points on the board. There are lessons to be learnt and that includes a change of approach I feel.
Without either Laird or Anderson (Although I was sure I’d seen somewhere last week that he was in with a shout of returning but didn’t so he’ll probably appear today no doubt) it changes the dynamic from a wingback position. Allsop remains out, hopefully it’s the last game we’ll be without him. I spoke about PF after Bolton and I don’t think we can risk utilising him in the same way we do Allsop, therefore without the creativity on the wings or the option to call on an 11th player we do surely need to be sturdier in the backline.
Blues are boosted with the return of Jay Stansfield to give attacking options that have potentially been lacking. There were plenty of chances that looked ideal for Stansfield while he was injured, I suppose though without Laird will we be missing these chances now? I don’t think so as we saw from Blues first goal against Bolton the chances can still come.
Lincoln come into this one off the back of an emphatic win over Crawley Town in the week which saw them find the net 4 times. They currently sit 12th in the table with three defeats in their last five matches. They come in firing though and no one has scored more than them in 2025 in League One though and they’ve scored 12 times in their last 5 games. This could be a concern with Peacock-Farrell in goal.
Blues have beaten Lincoln in both the league and the FA Cup this year so you would expect Blues to come away with all 3 points today, despite injury concerns. I’m going a bit more positive today and thinking 2-0 Blues.
