Awards All Around

March might not have started great but February was decent, so much so that Blues find themselves with not just one but two managers winning Manager of the Month as well as Stansfield being nominated for Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month for his goal against Charlton. It’s not the only Goal of the Month award though with Shannon Cooke picking up the Women’s Championship Goal of the Month for her banger against Sheffield and picked up Player of the Month.

It is the first time Chris Davies has been recognised as manager of the month with fans having called for it most of the season. Davies oversaw 8 games last month, won 6, drew one and narrowly lost to a Premier League side in the FA Cup.

Speaking on the award Davies said;

“I’m very proud to win the award,” he said. “I think it’s credit to everyone here at the training ground and the staff for the work they have done.

“It’s Manager of the Month but it’s really the staff and all the work everyone has done behind the scenes that has allowed us to have the season so far that we’ve had.

“I’m proud to get it, it’s a sign that we are making progress and had a good month.”

Amy Merricks is picking up the award for the second time, having already won it in October, as Blues Women went undefeated throughout February without conceding a goal and registering back to back wins.

Blues Women now sit top of the Championship with a three point cushion on second place London City. There are five games remaining of the season and Blues will be hoping to claim the title!

Shannon Cooke’s double awards are exceptionally impressive, especially as she is a defender. She joined Blues Women on Deadline Day and scored her debut goal from 40 yards out!

Stansfield’s award is the only one that remains in the balance and you can cast your vote here votes need to be submitted by 5pm on Monday 10th March!

Congratulations to both players and both managers! To top it all off Blues themselves have been shortlisted for three awards in the Football Business Awards for Best Digital/Social Media Team, Best Football Club Stadium Experience, and Best Football Community Scheme.

It all just shows that the efforts Knighthead are putting in aren’t going unnoticed. Keep Right On!
