Blues are back in action tonight as we head up north to face Bolton at the Toughsheet Community Stadium. It will be the last time Blues face a team currently in the top half of the table for a couple of weeks and Bolton have forced themselves into the Play Offs discussion and so will be hoping for a win tonight to potentially find themselves sitting in sixth as we head into the weekend.

Blues have the opportunity to go 19 games unbeaten, their longest run is 20 games 30 years ago so there will potentially be an eye on this as well as just two more games will be enough to get this team in the history books for Blues. 36 home games without a defeat is another stat that Davies looks like he could bang out considering the fortress he has turned St Andrews into, but the Championship will be a different beast all together.
Anyway, back to tonight’s game. Blues are suffering from injuries at the moment, which isn’t ideal but we do have solid options for cover. Ryan Allsop and Ethan Laird are both in question tonight and I’d suggest they’re unlikely to feature which will no doubt see Blues set up a bit more defensively utilising Beilik and Peacock-Farrell. Stansfield and Dykes both remain out so Blues will no doubt stick with May up top, I’d personally give Juke a start as well.
I know it limits out attacking options from the bench but I feel that May looks to struggle a bit up top on his own and as much as I like him I feel Willumsson has been off the pace lately. Juke wouldn’t manage a full 90 minutes I don’t think but he’d certainly cause a bit of disruption and would be able to feed May quite nicely I feel. I can’t see it and no doubt it will be the same attacking line as at the weekend but it’s just something I think could be utilised.
Wright and Bucanan both remain out and won’t feature again this season but that does suggest therefore that Keshi Anderson and Marc Leonard could return into the fold. Both are on the edge and I suspect we’ll potentially see them on the bench with some game time coming their way.
Bolton come into this one off the back of a goalless draw against Wrexham at the weekend, a result that will no doubt give them a bit of confidence they can emulate (Or even one better) this against Blues on home turf. They are hopeful of a return of attacking options Victor Adeboyejo and Kion Etete, but as with Blues returnees I suspect if they can get into the squad they won’t be playing a full 90 minutes.
I think it will be a game of a different pace for Blues but I can’t see us losing. I don’t think I’ll get that hammering I want to see Blues dish out on a team before the end of the season and suspect they’ll be happy to hold possession, another 1-0 for Blues on the cards? My prediction is 0-0.
