Top of the Table

Blues have the opportunity to put 11 points between us and second place as we face Wycombe today leaving a solid distance with, what would then be, 14 games remaining vs Wycombe’s 13. There’s a few maths savvy individuals who have postulated the earliest we could win the league would be the Stevenage game (Assuming absolutely everything goes our way) I’m sure I’ve seen, but I’ll save that for another day. You can only beat what’s in front of you as the saying goes.

Today is probably Blues toughest game and so it’s worth not getting too ahead of ourselves, Wycombe have been a surprise challenger for the league with automatic promotion currently on the cards for them and a three point gap keeping Wrexham in third at the moment.

I thought the last couple of games may have been tough, but Blues remained calm and composed, slowly working their magic. This one will be quite a big game for both sides and I can see Wycombe throwing everything at it in an attempt to not be left too far behind. They’re in good form for it as well having lost just one of their last ten games, although of their last five it’s three draws and two wins.

Wycombe were held to a 0-0 draw at the weekend as they faced 14th placed Wycombe which does give me faith we should be well placed for this one but they come in having not played in the week like Blues have. They also aren’t missing their top goal scorer, Richard Kone, who has bagged 16 goals for Wycombe this season.

The last time the two teams met Blues scored four goals in a 3-2 victory, giving Wycombe a head start (Because we’re nice like that). Just a bit of good humour there, I anticipate this one not being such a goal fest but a more composed victory from Blues. I’d like to see us continue to extend our clean sheet form, Allsop has been unreal this season and it’s mad to think at any stage of the season he wasn’t first choice. I do however think this one will end 2-1.
