The club have today posted a brief update on the injury Jay Stansfield sustained during the Vertu Trophy Semi Final on Tuesday, when Bradford defender Romoney Crichlow landed awkwardly on Blues top goal scorer. A challenge that is still dividing opinion.

The challenge saw Stansfield stretchered off about an hour into the game before being whisked immediately to hospital for further tests. He was therefore missing during the celebrations at the end of the game, despite opening the scoring with a terrific shot at the end of the first half.
Bluenoses were understandably concerned seeing the 22 year old taken off in such pain. Plenty of players go down easy or even feign injury, Stansfield is not in the slightest this sort of player. It suggested to most of us therefore that there could be something far more serious. Stansfield has bagged 16 of the 51 goals Blues have managed in the league this season so the prospect of him being out for any period of time is a concern when it comes to the league.
The club have today confirmed the injury wasn’t as serious as perhaps feared in the following statement;
The Blues striker was stretchered off an hour into Tuesday night’s Vertu Trophy victory over Bradford City.
Stansfield was taken to a local hospital where scans have since revealed no indication of bone or ligament damage to the affected area.
The 22-year-old will continue to be assessed by the club’s medical staff in the coming days.
Jay himself has even posted for the first time since he was stretchered off, sharing his excitement about being able to play at Wembley.
This does all however suggest that Blues will likely to be without Stansfield for a few games I’d say. We’re all happy that it’s nothing too serious and would like to wish Stansfield a speedy recovery!
